A Radiologist is a medical doctor who diagnoses diseases by obtaining and interpreting medical images. Some images are obtained by using x-rays or radioactive substances, others by means of sound waves or the body's natural magnetism. A Radiologist correlates medical image findings with other examinations and tests, recommends further examinations or treatments, and confers with referring physicians (the doctors who send patients to the radiology department for testing).
Under the direction of experienced, board certified Radiologists, our in-house Imaging Services Department provides a variety of diagnostic scanning procedures, including general diagnostic X-rays, fluoroscopy, diagnostic and screening mammograms, CT, MRI, PET scans, ultrasound, bone density testing and nuclear medicine scans. Primary care or other specialty care physicians may rely on a Radiologist's findings before treatment is begun or completed.
