“As an active individual in sports, I understand how important it is to stay healthy to achieve goals and stay fit. I also understand the frustration of a sports injury or musculoskeletal failure. I take interest in the prevention of such injuries and ailments and strive to keep patients functioning at their best.”
I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in athletic training at the University of Northern Colorado. There, I worked closely with student athletes and coaches in every sport. I became a certified athletic trainer and ran my own high school training room in Colorado Springs, Colo. I then went on to obtain a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Finch University of Health Sciences in North Chicago, Ill.
As a board certified physician assistant, I take medical/orthopaedic histories, perform physical examinations, order and interpret tests, make diagnoses and determine appropriate treatment plans, including prescribing medications, joint injections, and ordering appropriate therapies, all in collaboration with the attending physician. I also assist in numerous surgical procedures such as arthroscopy of the shoulder, knee, ankle, hip and elbow, joint replacement, fracture care, cartilage restoration, rotator cuff and labral repair, knee ligament reconstruction, foot and arch surgery, as well as joint fusions.
Away from the clinic, I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, canoeing and walking my dog with my husband. I also participate in triathlons and running events, play indoor volleyball and practice yoga.
