Marilyn came to Aurora Advanced Healthcare with over 27 years of experience. She enjoys that we are a physician led group and feels that she uses all her skills in this supportive environment. “My work team is a very cohesive group working to ensure that all patient needs are met through a higher quality of service. There’s a lot of camaraderie here. Our manager is awesome - we are like a family and respect the strengths and differences we all bring to the table.” Marilyn tells her friends, “You need to work here. Things are different – A big part of our focus is on preventative things to keep people healthy.”
Karen is a Nurse Practitioner who has been working with the same group of doctors for the past 19 years and believes that her team of coworkers is one of the great benefits of working at AAH. She and her coworkers have fun while respecting one another and sharing knowledge. She states that, “Sometimes there are stressful moments and difficult situations but we are always able to see the light, positive aspects and bring each other up when we’re down.” She also enjoys the flexibility with scheduling and the autonomy she’s given to make decisions at AAH. Karen had great things to say about her manager as well. “I have a great manager, just wonderful. She listens to our concerns and has helped us to become the team we are. She really encourages people to do their best.” Karen’s dream job is exactly what she is doing right now. “I want to keep doing what I’m doing until I retire. I enjoy my work so much. I can’t see myself doing anything differently.”
Seeing patients through all stages of their health concerns is Amanda’s first love. She also enjoys all of her coworkers and refers to them as her own little family. “The doctors all support us.” Amanda also says that one of the best things about her job is that she has a working supervisor who understands everything and knows what the staff goes through. “The Continuing Education and. Tuition Reimbursement offerings are some of the great benefits that I plan to utilize in my career here.”
Lanna loves her job so much that she doesn’t mind driving over 33 miles one way to get to work. She has a dual role as a Medical Assistant and a cast tech and thinks that casting is like being in art class. She can’t believe she gets paid to have so much fun. Lanna loves the people she works with. “We work as a team. I never hear anyone say, No, I can’t help. We’re like family.” She also appreciates that AAH encourages her to better her skills by allowing her to attend casting seminars and then share her newfound knowledge with her coworkers. Her favorite patient care story involves a diabetic patient who needed to be in a cast for an extended period of time. In order to help the patient feel better about the situation, Lanna came up with different designs for each cast, such as the Packers and Tinkerbell, so that the patient would look forward to coming in to the clinic. In this way Lanna was able to turn a negative into a positive experience for the patient. She loves that AAH gives her the freedom to use her creativity to enhance each patient’s experience.
“The opportunity to really make a difference in the lives of my patients inspires me every day. I have the time and support to really develop the relationships needed to have the most successful patient outcomes. Aurora Advanced Healthcare encourages me to expand the scope of my practice through their generous funding of continuing education opportunities for Physical Therapists. We are a great team - all great resources for each other on a daily basis. Management supports our goals and is always professional and approachable. Our department has a close family feeling to it.”
Linda loves the relationships she has built with the patient families who have grown up with her in her career. She enjoys an atmosphere of mutual respect with her coworkers and physicians and describes her management as being positive and approachable. “They really listen to us. I feel like we are always heard.” One of her favorite tools is AAH’s Electronic Medical Record. “The EMR gives us immediate input. Our patients feel really good knowing that their care will be up to date and accurately monitored no matter whom they see or what location they are at in the organization. Linda also appreciates the knowledge level shared among all of her coworkers The team I work with covers a broad range of experience, so we are always learning from each other.”
Heidi was inspired to become a Physical Therapist while observing her mother’s wonderful care while being rehabilitated after an injury. Her choice of practicing here at Aurora Advanced Healthcare has been a good one, as she has tremendous freedom in her practice. “I know I have the support of my supervisors and that I am cared for as a person. We enjoy true work/life balance here.” Aurora Advanced Healthcare provides me with the tools I need to excel. Heidi has achieved one of her goals and has much more that she wants to do professionally. She knows that she will be supported as she moves forward with her career.
Nancy loves helping people and improving the quality of their lives by assisting them through processes that improve their vision. One of her favorite things about working here is the high quality of patient care she witnesses everyday. “The compassion that is shown for patients by everyone from the doctors to the techs to the receptionists is great.” Nancy’s favorite patient care (and teamwork) story involves a caregiver from another department who consistently offers to help out when he sees an Ophthalmology patient with special needs. “He is so professional and compassionate that the patient is never caused to feel embarrassed or upset.” Nancy’s says her own department feels like extended family. “Everyone will pitch in to help, you never even have to ask.” She is always excited to refer friends and family members to Aurora Advanced Healthcare.
